How Fast IDP can help
We go to AAA on your behalf to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP). Simply apply and we'll take care of the rest. Your IDP can be delivered as quickly as the following day in the US or 2-5 days internationally.
For Americans to drive abroad, many countries require an IDP in addition to a US driver's license. The US government has authorized only AAA to issue IDPs – no other organization, company, or government agency has this authority.
Visiting a AAA branch yourself is the cheapest way to obtain an IDP. AAA also accepts applications by mail directly. Typical return mail times when working with AAA directly are 3-5 weeks for domestic and 5-7 weeks for international shipments. Details can be found on the AAA website.
Beware of scams: In 2024, AAA is the only authorized issuer of International Driving Permits in the US. All other companies claiming to issue IDPs for American drivers operate illegally and produce illegitimate documents. Fill out the form & upload your documents (both sides of your driver's license & a passport-style photo). Then, select processing & shipping speeds & pay. Rates start at $78+tax.
Step 2: We get your IDP
We review your application to make sure it is complete before we go to a AAA branch to get you an IDP.
Step 3: We ship your IDP to you
We email you a photo of your IDP & tracking number, then ship it anywhere in the world. Your IDP can be delivered as quickly as next day within the US & within 2-5 days abroad.
